What is the Future Leaders Development Program?

The Warren CAT Future Leaders Development Program (FLDP) is a 6- to 7-month future leaders training program. Participants in the program rotate through all of our various departments and divisions to get a holistic view of how the company operates. At the end of the program, depending on the participants skills and the company’s business needs, participants may be offered a full-time position.

How does the recruiting process work?

Our recruiting process involves three steps, starting with an online application process or an on campus recruiting event, followed by a second phone interview and concluding with top candidates visiting with Warren CAT executives at our headquarters in Midland, TX or Oklahoma City, OK. This provides an opportunity for both parties to determine the overall fit for this unique career opportunity.

How do I apply for the FLDP?

Warren CAT recruits at college campuses around Texas and Oklahoma. You may send your cover letter and resume to leadership@warrencat.com. An online application will need to be completed on our career website at warrencareers.com. Application deadline is December 15th. However, depending on business needs spring applications may be accepted.

Which Warren CAT division will I be working with?

The FLDP is a companywide program. Candidates are recruited to participate in the program, not for immediate placement in a specific position or business unit. Our objective is to develop high-potential future leaders with the capability of working in a wide array of core company operations.

Does the FLDP hire international students?

The Future Leaders Development Program accepts students who have an unrestricted right to work in the US on a permanent basis.

What is the length of the program?

The program generally lasts 6- to 7-months.

The FLDP requires geographic mobility. What does this mean and how will moving expenses be handled?

The FLDP offers job rotations throughout our dealership territory. Travel is required to experience some of our rotations. Job placement locations vary,and final decisions are made based on the needs of the business and the developmental opportunity for each individual. If a move is required, Warren CAT offers relocation assistance.

What departments will I see during my job rotations?

Warren CAT has several divisions and departments that work together to make our organization the dealership of choice. During the program, you will be exposed to the following departments: Parts, Machine Shop Service, Machine Field Service, Engine Shop Service, Engine Field Service, Truck Service, Truck Sales, Power Systems Division Fabrication, Machine Rental, Power Rental, Machine Sales, Machine Product Support, Used Equipment, Warranty, Machine Support Services, Corporate Services, and Sitech Technology. These rotations enhance leadership skills and help participants gain exposure to all aspects of the business.

What happens when a participant completes the Future Leaders Development Program?

Each participant will be evaluated by the Program Manager, Human Resources and other managers to identify an area within the organization that is a good match for participant’s knowledge, skills, abilities and career goals, and that also fulfills a Warren CAT need. Previous participants have pursued careers in Parts, Sales, Logistics, Marketing, Business Relationships, Customer Relationships and other operational areas of Warren CAT.

What is the “typical” career path for a graduate of the FLDP?

Each graduate’s career path will differ from that of their peers. Warren CAT is committed to retaining the industry’s top talent and graduates may work in several different departments, and multiple locations throughout their careers.

What are the expectations of the FLDP participants?

Like all employees, participants are expected to maintain the highest standards of personal and professional integrity, a strong ethical code and professionalism at all times. Participants must take advantage of every opportunity to learn about all aspects of the heavy equipment industry. They will attend meetings and trainings, complete special projects, assist with events, offer honest feedback, be open to feedback and develop relationships with leaders across the organization.

How will my performance be evaluated?

Participants are evaluated by the supervisor of each rotation assignment. Performance is measured in two facets: what was achieved (results) and how these results were achieved (leadership). Participants also receive feedback from the FLDP staff and other mentors.

What are the requirements for admission?

Those applying to the program must be a college graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree, minimum 3.0 GPA and willing to relocate within our dealership territory. Travel is required to complete the program.
